My girl Laura Marling has been nominated for Best British Female Solo Artist for the 2012 Brit Awards. I think she deserves it for not only making a great third record but also for her evolution. You can clearly see her ability as a a lyricist, storyteller, and performer have improved a lot since Alas, I Cannot Swim was released in 2008. Back then she used to be so quiet in performances, standing on stage looking at her feet, not interacting with the audience at all. But now she tells stories on stage, she sings with her head held up high, shoulder back, staring into space with conviction.
It’s an amazing evolution to watch.
Anyway, here’s a song called Sophia, off her third album A Creature I Don’t Know, that was performed live at Studio Paradiso. Listen and decide for yourself if she’s as amazing as I perceive her to be.
